The team from Brindleyplace based Prescient Business Consulting has been on Elf duty this month to support Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Donning their finest festive jumpers, the team – supported by friends from Colmore Row-based Mills & Reeve – have been helping to deck the hospital halls and bring some Christmas magic to their patients and families.

Corporate Partnerships Officer, Helen Rawnsley, commented: “Christmas can be a really difficult time to spend in hospital, so we need help to give our families the very best Christmas that we can”.

Prescient Business Consulting were one of the local organisations that sponsored ward decorations so that the hospital’s fundraising team could purchase colourful, bright and jolly decorations to bring a smile to patients, families, and staff, with Prescient choosing to sponsor the Oncology Outpatients Ward.

Kate Marsh, Partner HR & Culture added “Birmingham Children’s Hospital holds a very special place in my heart. When my son was born, he was diagnosed with an extremely rare tumor. After intense neurosurgery at the hospital to remove the growth from his spine, we received the devastating news that we had feared the most – it was cancer. We then spent the next 6 months as patients of the Oncology department receiving chemotherapy treatment which, after several years of follow-up appointments and monitoring, has gone on to save his life. The treatment, care, and support that we received from everyone at the hospital were outstanding and we’ll be forever grateful. To be able to give something back to the hospital through the business, especially Oncology, is a real privilege and pleasure – especially knowing how it feels to spend a Christmas in hospital with a very poorly child”.

After a tour of the department to see first-hand the amazing services and facilities of the ward on Waterfall Street, Oncology Outpatients was transformed into a Winter Wonderland with lots of Christmas trees to make a real difference to what can be a very upsetting time for those undergoing treatment. The team had a great time and was even able to enjoy a few mince pies along the way.

Prescient’s Partner – Strategy & Leadership, David Thomson (pictured), commented “the hospital, which also runs Birmingham Women’s Hospital, are always on the lookout for local organizations to get involved with the community and support their fundraising and fun activities such as the ward decorations. It was a thoroughly rewarding day and I would encourage anyone interested to contact Helen at the Fundraising hub (located in the main corridor of the hospital) to get involved and support some very worthy causes”.
